Ep 25: Teen Relationships: Love and the Teen Brain

Teen relationships and dating can feel confusing and high-stakes for parents—especially in a culture shaped by social media, constant connection, and mixed messages about love and boundaries. In this episode, we take a step back from fear and focus on what actually helps teens build healthy, respectful relationships. Denise Mayer is joined by Dr. Crystal Collier, licensed therapist, researcher, and national leader in prevention science, to break down what’s happening in the teen brain, how relationship skills develop over time, and why parents remain one of the strongest protective factors in their child’s life. Together, they explore how connection, emotional skills, and clear expectations reduce risk and strengthen teens’ ability to make healthy choices.

This conversation is for parents who want to stay involved without being controlling—and who want practical guidance rooted in research, not panic. *In this episode, parents will learn:* ·
